The Elliott T. Bowers Honors College is a place for highly-motivated students looking for a unique educational opportunity. The Honors College provides these achievement-oriented individuals with
- some financial support
- opportunities to interact with other similarly motivated students
- special course offerings leading to an unusually broad educational experience
- small classes with close contact to our hand-picked faculty
- the opportunity for early registration
- access to distinctively designed facilities.
The Honors College is designed to attract and retain highly competent and motivated students and seeks to create an intellectual and social climate that encourages students to develop their potential both in and out of the classroom. To this end, the Honors College creates a community of scholars, wherein both students and professors interact and challenge each other in developing their abilities.
Specifically, the Honors College provides personalized instruction and mentor-ship opportunities in supporting the University's overall mission of high academic standards and community service. Graduating with Honors from Sam Houston State University provides definite advantages for students entering graduate or professional school, as well as those starting out in their chosen profession.
