Connecting Gaming Consoles

Xbox One

  1. Press the "Menu" button on the Controller.
  2. Scroll down and select "Settings".
  3. On the new screen, select "Network".
  4. Select "Advanced Settings" on the lower left side of the screen.
  5. Find your "Wired MAC Address" listed on the bottom right side of the screen.

Xbox 360

Using the NXE Dashboard

  1. Scroll Down (if necessary) to "My Xbox".
  2. Go all the way to the right and select "System Settings".
  3. On the new screen, select "Network Settings".
  4. Select "Configure Network".
  5. Under "Basic Settings" check to make sure "IP Settings" is on "Automatic".
  6. Go right to select the "Additional Settings" Tab.
  7. Go down and select the second item "Advanced Settings".
  8. The MAC address can be found towards the bottom of the screen under the heading "Wired MAC Address".

Using the Original Dashboard

  1. Access the System area of the Xbox Dashboard and select "Network Settings".
  2. Select "Edit Settings".
  3. From Additional Settings, select "Advanced Settings".
  4. The MAC address can be found towards the bottom of the screen under the heading "Wired MAC Address".

Playstation 4

  1. Access the Settings menu and select "Network".
  2. Select "View Network Connection Status".
  3. The MAC Address is listed for both the wired connection and wireless connection.
  4. You will want to register the MAC Address for the wired connection.

Playstation 4 - Wireless

  1. Go to the "Settings" menu.
  2. Scroll down to "Network".
  3. Select "Set Up Internet Connection".
  4. Select "Use Wi-Fi".
  5. Select "Easy".
  6. Select "samnet-guest".
  7. Select "Test Internet Connection".
  8. When connection fails select the "Details" box on the right side of the screen.
  9. Press the 'Triangle' button on the PS4 remote for "Search playstation.com Support".
  10. The login page for Samnet-Guest will now show up for you to sign-in to samnet-guest with your SHSU account.
  11. Select "I agree to the above terms".
  12. Enter your SHSU Username.
  13. Enter your SHSU Password.
  14. Select "Sign In" button.

Playstation 3

  1. Access the Settings menu and select "System Settings".
  2. The MAC address is found under "System Information".

Nintendo Wii

  1. Note: The Wii does not ship with the ability to connect to a wired network. Students who wish to use the Wii online in the dorms will need to purchase a Wii LAN Adapter and use an ethernet cable.
  2. From the Wii Channel menu, select Wii (the round button on the bottom-left of the screen with 'Wii" on it) then select the Wii "Settings" icon.
  3. Click the right arrow to go to the second page. Select Internet, then go to "Console Settings".
  4. The MAC Address of the Wii console's LAN Adapter is displayed on the second line.
