Job Scam Emails

Warning! Unfortunately, as with college students and graduates everywhere, scammers are preying on SHSU college students and recent college graduates by posting fake jobs. Job scammers target vulnerable students/recent graduates eager to get a job in two ways: by posting fake positions on university job boards like Handshake and by e-mailing students’ school accounts directly. Remember: You should NEVER have to pay to get an internship, job or scholarship. A legitimate employer would never hire you on the spot and send you a check to deposit to purchase supplies then ask you to wire funds or send money through gift cards. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Check SHSU’s IT@SAM Phish Bowl for recently reported scams, IT Awareness Education, and get further tips to avoid scams at the Better Business Bureau site.
