Theatre Studies

Students who enroll in the BFA in Theatre choose one of four tracks: Theatre Studies, Acting/Directing, Design/Technology, Theatre with Teaching Certification, or Theatre Studies.

The Acting/Directing track is the path that students should follow that are completely focused on performance as their career.

Design/Technology is the track that those students wishing to become costume, light, set, sound designers or technicians and stage managers choose.

Students wishing to teach in the Secondary School system choose the Theatre with Secondary Education minor.

Students that have multiple interests across theatre such as a combination of performance and design, playwriting, stage management, theatre management, or theatre historian would choose this track. At the end of a freshman's first semester in the department, the student will meet with faculty for an assessment of their progress in the program. At the end of their freshman year they will audition to join one of the 4 tracks listed above.
