National First-Generation Day
National First-Gen Week: Nov 8 - 15
The First-Generation Center invites you to celebrate and support our first-generation students during National First-Generation Week. During this week, students, faculty, and staff engage in events that create a culture of awareness and understanding of the first-gen college student experience. This week also provides us the opportunity to recognize everyone who contributes to the success of our first-generation students, who make up approximately 52% of currently enrolled students.
Please consider supporting National First-Generation Week with the following:
For Students
· Attend the events to be celebrated, and get free swag and food
· Bring a friend (first-gen or not!) to the events
· Check in with your family and send them a selfie during the events
· Use the following hashtags during the events: #shsufirstgen #firstgen #FirstgenForward
For Faculty
· Share First-Gen Week information with your colleagues and encourage them to invite their students
· Share First-Gen Week information on your department’s social media
