Expansion & Affiliation
Sam Houston State University is an open expansion campus and Fraternity and Sorority Life offers support to expanding and establishing organizations in a variety of ways. To begin the process, please complete the FSL Expansion Interest Form so that FSL staff can learn more about your interest in joining our community. FSL staff will then reach out to interested organizations to discuss viability, campus climate, and timeline for potential expansion. Our office supports expanding organizations on campus; however, organizations must meet the requirements of all recognized student organizations at SHSU and petition to join a governing council to be affiliated with the FSL community.
FSL affiliate membership assists social fraternities and sororities recognized by Fraternity and Sorority Life; however, these organizations do not have membership in a governing council. Organizations expanded at SHSU can join the FSL community as an affiliate organization to receive more in-depth resources and support as they prepare to join a governing council. Affiliate organizations receive all benefits and privileges associated with being an official recognized Greek letter organization.
