Superintendent's Statement

The Sam Houston State University Charter School was granted an “open enrollment” charter by the Texas Education Agency and opened in the fall of 2017.  This allows sites to be reflective of the demographics of their home public school districts.  I have been asked, "Why a charter school?" Our purpose is to provide the highest quality education to our students and also provide the students of the Sam Houston State University Educator Preparation Program a place to hone their skills as future educators.

In October 2017, the Texas Education Agency conducted a site visit at the SHSU Charter School to evaluate progress during its first year of integration. To view the TEA Report, click here.
