Workshops

Teachers, are you looking for new activities for your classrooms? As part of our program, we are hosting teacher workshops in the fall and spring semesters. Each workshop has room for 10 participants and will focus on the societal importance of geosciences through brief talks and a series of “hands-on” activities. Teachers leave with ready-to-go exercises that can be used in their classrooms. In addition, teachers will receive breakfast, lunch, a $150 stipend, and continuing education credit (6 hours) for participating.

Our next teacher workshop will be held on SHSU's campus on Saturday, February 18th from 9am-4pm. If you are high school Biology or Environmental Science teacher and are interested in learning more about applied geoscience examples you can integrate in your classes, please contact David Moss (dxm112@shsu.edu) to register. Please sign up early as space is limited!

If you are unable to attend the workshops, but would like to talk with us more about visiting your classroom or working with you on how geoscience applies in your discipline, please contact us and let us know! We are happy to talk with you and provide materials that you can use in your classrooms.
