Mission + Purpose
Latinos Unidos is a network of support, recruitment, and retention of Hispanic/Latine staff and faculty to increase representation, promote our community, and create an environment to foster the diverse talents of Hispanic/Latine individuals and thereby, contribute to the success of Sam Houston State University’s mission and goals.
The purpose of Latinos Unidos is to provide support and foster a sense of belonging for Hispanic/Latine staff and faculty at SHSU, and to share opportunities and resources, both within and beyond Sam Houston State University.
Vision + Values + Strategic Goals
Latinos Unidos plays a critical role in the education and success of the Hispanic/Latine community at Sam Houston State University. Being a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) is a clear indication that the very makeup of our constituents has shifted. For Hispanic/Latine enrollment to grow and thrive, the composition of Hispanic/Latine staff and faculty must also grow and thrive. Latinos Unidos encourages the support, development, recruitment, and retention of Hispanic/Latine staff and faculty.
Membership
Latinos Unidos membership is open to all SHSU faculty and staff.
