Veteran Graduation and Stole Ceremony Information
The Veterans Resource Center awards a special camo-tipped stole to graduating SHSU Veterans and Service Members.
Date: November 30, 2023
Time: 6:00 pm
- Graduating students will arrive by 5:00 pm to allow enough time to check in.
- The ceremony begins at 6:00 pm

Logistics:
Dress is business, business casual (no shorts, flip flops, tank tops, or ball caps)
Graduating students will be sent an invitation from the VRC to the SHSU student email address. Students should RSVP by the deadline on the invitation.
Cannot attend? The VRC provides adequate notice so that students can make arrangements to attend the ceremony. Students must attend the ceremony to receive the honorary stole. If you have a class conflict or if you're a distance-learning student (must have a distance learning waiver on your account), please contact the VRC at veterans@shsu.edu.
You did not receive an invitation? SHSU graduating veterans or service members who are not using benefits through the VRC department who wish to be recognized and receive a stole MUST bring a copy of their DD 214 Member 4 or current military ID and a copy of current orders to the VRC department no later than one week prior to the stole ceremony.
Students that receive their undergraduate and graduate degrees from SHSU are only eligible to receive one stole. You are welcome to participate in the ceremony; however, you should bring your stole with you.
Stole Policy:
The Veterans Resource Center shall issue special camo stoles to Veterans and Active Service Members. These special stoles may be worn at SHSU graduation ceremonies over your graduation regalia. To learn more, refer to our stole policy.
