Bearkats, as you finalize your plans for the upcoming holidays, keep in mind that we must protect ourselves and others from getting or spreading COVID-19. As we know, holidays can be opportunities to reconnect with family and friends, but this holiday season reconsider how to celebrate safely. Many holiday traditions can be high risk for spreading COVID-19, but there are plenty of safe alternatives to spread cheer this season instead! It is highly recommended that you get tested before you go home! You can do that by visiting the Curative Labs Kiosk outside of the LSC on campus.

Here are 5 tips to celebrate Thanksgiving safely:

  1. Try having virtual celebration. You can also shop online for your holiday gifts and watch parades/sporting events from home on your TV.
  2. Have small gatherings with family members of your own household; limit the number of guests.
  3. Have a small outdoor dinner, wear masks, and stay at least 6 feet away from others who do not live with you. Bring your own food, drinks, plates, cups, and utensils.
  4. Prepare traditional dishes and deliver them to family and neighbors in a way that does not involve contact with others (for example, leave them on the porch).
  5. Wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds, keep hand sanitizer with you when you are unable to wash your hands.

Happy Thanksgiving Bearkats! Stay healthy and safe.
