FAQs

Who may attend SHSU's All-State Choir Camp?

Any student who will be eligible to audition for the high school All-State Choirs in the coming fall is eligible. This means current 8th graders who will be in 9th grade in the fall after camp, up through current 11th graders who will be in 12th grade the fall.

How will you deal with the COVID-19 pandemic?

We have put a lot of thought into how this will happen. Housing will all be single occupancy, rather than with roommates. All indoor activities, such as rehearsals and sectionals, will require masks and be socially distanced. Additionally, we run extra air handlers that we have purchased to help filter the air, and we will take frequent breaks to leave the room and allow the air handlers to purify the air. The final concert will be live streamed so that family can watch, but no audience will be allowed in the Concert Hall. Meals will also be socially distanced, and outside whenever possible.

We take this pandemic very seriously. Capacity for the camp is limited so that we can minimize any risks. We will do everything in our power to create a safe environment that is both fun and intellectually stimulating.

Must I be vaccinated to attend camp?

We highly recommend that anyone eligible for the vaccine get it prior to coming to camp, but we will not be checking vaccination status, nor requiring vaccination.

Must I attend camp in person?

No! We will be providing a virtual option this year. The virtual option will consist of attending rehearsals, sectionals, and other classes and electives remotely. Social time, meals, and non-academic time will be on your own. Capacity for remote learners is unlimited, while we do have capacity limits on those attending in person.

Do you work on the Small School Mixed music?

Students from Small Schools are encouraged to attend, but we will only be covering the Large School, Tenor-Bass, and Treble packets in sectionals and rehearsals.

How do I get my music?

We do not provide music to campers. You can pick up the music in person, or have it sent to you by contacting AMC Music in Houston.

No, but it’s way more fun. We have a virtual option this year as well.

Do I need to pay in full when I register for camp?

It depends. If you register between March 19 and July 3, you may pay in installments, but all fees must be paid in full by July 3. After July 3 there will be an additional late registration fee, which must be paid in full prior to the close of registration on July 17th.

What is the last day I can register for camp?

Registration will close on July 17th. All payments must be made in full by this time.
