Interior Designers make interior spaces functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing by determining spatial requirements and selecting items, such as furnishings, lighting and materials. Interior Designers work closely with architects, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, and construction teams to determine how interior spaces will function, enhance the quality of life and culture for occupants. They read and produce construction documents and must be aware of building codes and inspection regulations, as well as universal accessibility standards. Many Interior Designers specialize in particular types of buildings, specific rooms, or a specific style. Interior Designers are qualified by education, experience and examination, to protect and enhance the health, life safety and welfare of the public.
