Dr. Nelson’s expertise lies in human geography and specifically the geography of tourism. She was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Primorska in Slovenia, and she is the author of An Introduction to the Geography of Tourism (3rd Edition, Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, 2021). Her current research focuses on aspects of heritage tourism and gastronomic tourism. At SHSU, Dr. Nelson teaches People, Place and Environment; World Regional Geography – Latin America, Africa, South Asia; Regional Geography – The United States and Canada; Sustainable Development; and Tourism Geography.
