Ava Fujimoto-Strait is a broadly trained physical geographer with interests in biogeography, climatology, human-environment interaction and geographic education. Her main research interests are island endemism, forest-soil dynamics and incorporating field experiences in geography. Ava thoroughly enjoys teaching, coordinating labs (especially working with lab TAs) and leading campus workshops on engaging/active learning strategies in higher ed. At SHSU, Ava Fujimoto-Strait teaches: Weather and Climate, People, Place and Environment, Environmental Geography, Hawaii Field Course, and coordinates labs for Weather and Climate and Geologic and Environmental Hazards.
