Bearkats, it’s time to return to campus!

Remember, the pandemic is not over yet. The delta variant is dangerous. It can cause breakthrough infection even when someone is fully vaccinated; although the severity of the infection may be less.

This delta variant is the most dominant strain of COVID-19 right now, and it is more transmissible than the previous dominant variants in the US. Thus, delta variant can spread faster in schools, as it can in other places. While severe illness due to COVID-19 among students is not very common, it can happen. Individuals with underlying conditions, including those with weakened immune system or with heart disease, may have higher risk of worse outcomes. Keeping this in mind, please practice precautions when we all return to school this Fall.

Precautions during pandemic in the Fall semester:

  • For your safety, you can follow the mask wearing guidelines outlined by the university and local health authorities.

  • Try to avoid close contact with those demonstrating symptoms in your home and outside.

  • Because people without symptoms can spread the virus, when outside, keep 6 feet distance with people who don’t live in your home.

  • When visiting crowded areas like fitness centers or restaurants, please follow local health guidelines.

  • Avoid poorly ventilated crowded spaces.

  • Wash your hand more often for at least 20 seconds especially after caring for a sick person, leaving a public place and blowing your nose, coughing and sneezing.

Welcome back to school Bearkats!
