CAM Artist Series: Scott Plugge & Friends

The College of Arts & Media welcomes Scott Plugge & Friends as part of the 2023 – 2024 CAM Artist Series to grace audiences with an evening of jazz influenced music for so prano saxophone. Joining Plugge are SHSU faculty members Tingting Yao and John Lane and guest musicians Pamela York and David Craig.

Scott Plugge is a soloist/clinician and the SHSU School of Music director. Plugge has appeared in many concerts throughout the United States and internationally and is a former member of the Dallas Wind Symphony and award - winning Texas Saxophone Quartet.

Tingting Yao, a Chinese - American collaborative pianist and chamber musician, has performed internationally and throughout t he United States and is part of the piano - violin Dubois - Yao duo. Yao is also a staff pianist in the SHSU School of Music.

John Lane is an artist who collaborates and works through percussion, poetry, spoken word, and theatre, bridging musical performances with socio - political advocacy. Lane is a professor and director percussion studies in the SHSU School of Music.

Pamela York is a Canadian jazz musician, pianist, composer, and vocalist. York won the Great America n Jazz Piano Competition in 2007 and has three albums in her discography. York is also a member of the Milwaukee - based Affinity Trio.

Bassist David Craig has recorded, played, and toured wi th some of music's greatest jazz performers, such as Richie Cole and Jewel Brown. Craig was inducted into the High School for Performing and Visual Arts Hall of Fame in 2017. He also writes, records, and plays his original music with an individual and modern style.

Tickets are available on the Box Office website for $12 in advance and $15 the week of the event. SHSU students, faculty, and staff m ay redeem one free ticket per event with a valid Sam ID.
