September 1, 2015
15-15935, Welfare Concern, 9:39 AM:  An officer was advised of a student who was expressing thoughts of suicide. The office met with the student and provided transportation to Huntsville Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.

15-15940, Theft, 11:05 AM: An officer made contact with a student who reported that their clarinet was stolen while at the CHSS Building (1901 Avenue I).  The instrument was left in a third floor classroom on Monday and when they returned on Tuesday the instrument was nowhere to be found.

15-15965, Duty on Striking, 3:35 PM: A student reported that their vehicle was struck by another while parked on campus in the 1700 block of Bobby K Marks (university parking area).

15-15968, Criminal Mischief, 3:57 PM: An officer met with student who reported damage to their windshield wiper blades while parked in a university parking area of Bearkat Village (2401 Montgomery Road). The student stated that the damage occurred within the last two weeks.

15-15975, Violation of Student Code of Conduct, 4:50 PM: An officer was dispatched to Bearkat Village (2400 Montgomery Road) in reference to a suspicious odor. Officers arrived a detected a burnt marijuana odor. No marijuana was found; however, a non-resident was found to be living in the residence. The non-resident was removed from their housing contract recently from being in possession of marijuana. An incident report was completed and will be sent to the Dean of Students’ Office for Judicial Review.

15-15835, Damage to University Property, 9:18 AM: A student worker struck a low lying feeder while operating a university vehicle on Saturday August 29th at Gibbs Ranch (104 Fraser Road).  A report was made documenting the incident.

15-15869, Criminal Trespass Warning Issued, 3:08 PM: An officer was dispatched to the Barnes and Noble University Bookstore located in the LSC (1802 Avenue I) in reference to a suspicious person.  The male was identified, a criminal history was verified for theft, and the male admitted being in the company of another male who committed a theft from the bookstore.  At this time the subject was issued a criminal trespass warning for the Barnes and Noble Bookstore. Information regarding the theft was provided to the Detective and a report was made.

15-15750, Graffiti, 10:42 AM: An officer observed graffiti on a dumpster in the Jackson-Shaver parking lot (1300 17th Street).  A report was generated to document the damage.

15-15681, Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, 1:49 PM: An officer met with a student who reported her bicycle was stolen from the bed of her truck that was parked in the 900 block of Bearkat Boulevard. An offense report was completed.

15-15569, 3:12 AM, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: Subsequent to a traffic stop near the intersection of Sam Houston Avenue and Star Circle, the driver was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. The subject was cited and report was filed.

15-15577, Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, 10:08 AM: A student returned to vehicle after being parked on campus in the 1600 block of Avenue I for approximately three days and noticed her gas cap had been stolen. An offense report was filed.

15-15593, Violation of Student Code of Conduct, 12:25 PM: An officer was notified of a student that made fraudulent credit card transactions in the Barnes and Noble Bookstore inside the LSC (11802 Avenue I). The suspect used another student's account; however, the victim has not filed an official report with the University Police Department.

15-15629, Possession of Marijuana/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, 8:49 PM: An officer was dispatched to Bearkat Village (2401 Montgomery Road) in reference to a narcotics investigation.  At this time a student living in Bearktat Village was discovered to be in possession of marijuana.  The male student was arrested and an offense report was completed.

15-15632, Medical Assist, 9:23 PM: An officer was dispatched to the 1700 block of Bobby K. Marks in reference to assisting with a reported medical call. Upon arrival, officer was informed that a student had injured his shoulder while playing flag football. The student refused emergency medical services and rode with a friend to the hospital.

15-15651, Possession of Marijuana, 11:57 PM:  An officer was dispatched to Barrett House, located at 2001 Avenue J, in reference to a suspicious odor call.  Upon investigation, a student was discovered to be in possession of marijuana while visiting a friend in room 212 of Barrett House. He was arrested and an offense report was completed.

15-15675, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, 9:27 AM:  A traffic stop initiated for expired motor vehicle registration revealed the vehicle to be stolen out of Baytown, Texas. The driver was arrested and a report was filed.

15-15298, Theft, 11:08 AM: A faculty member reported that his computer was removed from his office in Academic Building III (1922 Avenue J) without his consent.  An offense report was completed.

15-15335, Damaged University Property, 4:14 PM: A parking lot sign was observed laying on the ground in in a university parking lot (P2/1500 block Bobby K Marks Drive). An offense report was completed.

15-15162, AOA-Warrant Service, Drug Paraphernalia, Open Container, 11:24 PM: An investigation during a traffic stop revealed that the owner of the vehicle had an active warrant through Huntsville Municipal Court. Additionally, the driver was found to be in possession of numerous items of drug paraphernalia and an open container of alcohol. The individual was transported to the Walker
County jail.

15-15175, DWI, 3:39 AM: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1800 block of Bobby K. Marks. During the stop, the officer concluded that the driver was intoxicated and was subsequently arrested for Driving while Intoxicated.

15-15194, Harassment/Stalking, 10:26 AM: A faculty member reported that a previous student continues to attempt contact. Another report was generated and an investigation is ongoing.

15-15209, Damaged Vehicle, 12:25 PM: A student reported that her vehicle was damaged while parked at Bearkat Village (2400 block Montgomery Road). After consulting with grounds and verifying that they were not in that area, a report for her damaged windshield was generated.

15-15221, Drug Paraphernalia, 3:36 PM: During a traffic stop in the 2200 block of Avenue I, the driver was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.  The driver was issued a citation and released.

15-15250, Theft, 9:15 PM: A student left her computer unattended at Belvin-Buchanan Hall (1008 17th Street), near the never ending staircase, while attending a function at Old Main Pit. The computer was gone upon her return. A report was filed.

15-15012, Violation of Student Code of Conduct, 12:20 AM: Four students were observed by resident assistants to be in possession of alcohol at Raven Village (2133 Avenue I). Upon the officer’s arrival, two of the individuals had left the room with the alcohol and were not identified. The occupants of the room (minor females) were found to have consumed alcohol.  An incident report was completed and will be forwarded to the Dean of Students’ Office for Judicial Review.

15-15023, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, 3:10 AM: An officer initiated a traffic stop in the 2500 block of Lake Road and during the officer’s investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. While speaking with the driver, it was determined that the male had consumed marijuana prior to speaking with the officer.  Huntsville/Walker County EMS was contacted and transported the individual to the hospital for evaluation.  It should be noted that the male was issued a citation for the offense of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

15-14913, Public Intoxication, 12:27 AM:  An officer responded to the Jolly Fox (2504 Sam Houston Avenue) to assist another officer with a highly intoxicated student that was refusing to leave and cooperate. That subject was arrested and a report was filed.

15-14965, Suspicious Incident, 3:36 PM: Two students reported that on Saturday two unknown males approached them while inside Estill Dorm (1002 Bearkat Boulevard) The men inquired about selling SuddenLink cable boxes to the individuals. A report was filed noting the incident.

15-14979, Possession of Marijuana, 6:17 PM: A student was found to be in possession of marijuana inside her dorm room at Elliot Hall (1006 17th Street). The student was arrested and transported to the Walker County Jail.

15-14865, Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle, 5:35 PM: An officer initiated a traffic stop on a motorcycle in the 2700 block of Old Houston Road which was determined to be stolen. The subject was arrested and an offense report was filed.

15-14793, AOA - Warrant Service, 10:21 PM: Subsequent to a traffic stop in the 2400 block of Lake Road, an officer discovered that one of the occupants in the vehicle had active Municipal warrants for their arrest. The subject was arrested and transported to the Walker County Jail.

15-14024, Damage to University Property (Fleet Accident), 7:50 PM: An officer was involved in a vehicle accident while driving in the 5000 block of Sam Houston Avenue. An accident report was completed by the Huntsville Police Department.

15-13889, Welfare Concern, 12:40 PM: A female subject stated that she wanted to kill herself while at the Sam Houston Museum (1836 Sam Houston Avenue). The female was transported voluntarily to Huntsville Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.

15-13898, Damage to University Property, 4:00 PM: An SHSU employee reported damage to a trailer hitch on a vehicle that he was driving. An information report was completed.

15-13923, Fail to ID, Possession of Marijuana, CTW/AOA Warrant Service, 11:44 PM: A male individual was found, after hours, at the Gazebo near Pritchett Field (1402 19th Street). After numerous attempts to identify this person, his correct name was given and it was determined that he had active county warrants. Additionally, he was in possession of marijuana. The individual was arrested and transported to the Walker County Jail.  In addition, the male was issued a criminal trespass warning for all of SHSU property.

15-13566, Public Intoxication, 12:03 AM: Officers responded to the Draft Bar (2002 Sam Houston Avenue) after witnessing a physical disturbance in front of the establishment. Management was found to be physically fighting an intoxicated subject after he was escorted from the bar due to his level of intoxication. The subject was arrested for Public Intoxication.

15-13579, DUI/Public Intoxication, 1:54 AM: A driver was found to be driving under the influence after being stopped for a traffic violation in the 2400 block of Sam Houston Avenue. Both passengers were found to be intoxicated and received citations, then released to a sober individual.

15-13491, AOA-Huntsville Police Department, 12:32 AM: An officer was requested to assist the Huntsville Police Department by searching a female subject at Shenanigan's (1548 11th Street). The female was arrested by HPD and a supplement report was written.

15-13520, Accident/Information Only Report, 3:16 PM: An officer responded to 615 16th Street in reference to an overturned dump truck. The driver of the truck was offloading dirt when the truck turned on its side. A report was generated for information purposes only.

15-13527, AOA Warrant Service, 5:06 PM An officer, while on a traffic stop, identified a subject that was found to have active warrants through Huntsville Municipal Court. The subject was arrested and transported to the Walker County Jail.

15-13476, Theft, 10:39 PM: A student attending Freshman Orientation reported that her cellphone was stolen from her bag while at the Lowman Student Center (1802 Avenue I). The student did not wish to pursue criminal charges, only wished to file a report.

15-13331, Damage to University Property, 1:52 AM: A driver fell asleep while traveling east on 18th street and drove into the fence surrounding Pritchett Field (1700 block of Avenue O) causing damage.

15-13368, AOA-Warrant Service, 6:40 PM: While conducting a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Sam Houston Avenue, the officer determined that the driver had active warrants. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the Walker County Jail.

15-13387, Interference with Public Duties, AOA warrant service, Violation of Student Code of Conduct, 11:10 PM: Upon conducting a traffic stop in the 2500 block of Sam Houston Avenue, the officer determined that the passenger had active Municipal warrants. While attempting to take the passenger into custody, she failed to comply with any and all verbal commands, interfering with the duties of the
arresting officer. Eventually, the female was arrested and transported to the Walker County Jail.

1500012679, 4:49 PM, Driving While Intoxicated: an officer conducted a traffic stop at Bearkat Boulevard and Bowers Boulevard. During the stop, the officer determined that the driver was intoxicated and arrest him. The driver was transported to the Walker County Jail and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

During the stop, the driver of the vehicle was found do have outstanding Municipal Court warrants. She was also found to be in possession of a Controlled Substance. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the Walker County Jail.

15-12008, Evading, 12:05 AM: Officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit in the 1500 block of Avenue J. The driver wrecked out in the parking lot of Mance Park Middle School where the driver fled on foot. An investigation is ongoing.

15-12019, Damage to University Property, 8:31 AM: An Officer was dispatched to 17th Street and Avenue J for a stop sign that was damaged.

15-11991, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, 8:37 PM:  While conducting a traffic stop in the 2400 block of Sam Houston Avenue, the officer determined that the driver was in possession of contraband.  The driver was issued a citation for the offense of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was released.

15-11915, Theft, 1:06 AM:  Officer met with a complainant who reported that he placed his bag on the stairway of Intermural Field #2 while he exercised (1900 block Bobby K Marks Drive).  When he returned, items were missing from his bag. An offense report was filed.

While speaking with the driver, the officer noticed the individual attempting to hide a baggy of marijuana in the vehicle. The driver was arrested and transported the Walker County Jail.

15-7417, 12:15 AM, Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-student involved in an ongoing harassment case at the University Hotel, located at 1640 Bobby K Marks, was located and issued a Criminal Trespass Warning for all campus properties.

15-11561, 1:39 AM, Public Intoxication: While patrolling in the 1600 block of Sam Houston Avenue, an officer observed a subject stumbling down the sidewalk. After an investigation, it was determined that the subject was intoxicated. The subject was arrested for Public Intoxication and transported to the Walker County Jail.

15-11567, 5:43 AM, Public Intoxication: An off duty officer reported that a subject was passed out in the parking lot of a local apartment complex in the 2200 block of Bobby K. Marks. Upon arrival and investigation, It was discovered that the subject was highly intoxicated. The subject was arrested for the offense of Public Intoxication and transported to the Walker County Jail.

15-11152, 10:43 PM, Failure to Identify (Fugitive)/DWLI/AOA- Warrant Service: Subsequent to a traffic stop on Sam Houston Avenue, an officer discovered that the driver had multiple driver’s license suspensions along with no insurance. Additionally, the suspect gave the officer a false name
while having an active arrest warrant. The subject was jailed and a report filed.

15-11038, 1:15 AM, DWI 2nd/Unlawful Carry of a Weapon/Public Intoxication/AOA - Warrant Service: Subsequent to a traffic stop in the 200 block of Highway 190 East, an officer discovered that the driver was intoxicated and had a previous conviction. The driver was also in possession of an illegal knife. The driver was arrested and an offense report was completed. In addition, a passenger was also arrested for Public Intoxication. Furthermore, another passenger was arrested for outstanding warrants.

15-11046, 9:20 AM, Burglary of a Motor Vehicle: A subject reported that his unlocked vehicle had been broken into in a university parking lot (1600block of Sam Houston Avenue). An offense report was completed.

15-11072, 6:26 PM, Assist Outside Agency - Warrant Service: During a traffic stop in the 2400 block of Montgomery Road, an officer discovered a subject held active warrants. The subject was jailed and a report was filed.

15-10682, Damage to University Property, 4:08 PM: A water line broke in the women’s restroom of the library. Physical Plant was contacted and a report was filed.

15-10692, Possession a Controlled/Possession of Marijuana/DWLI, 6:02 PM: An officer arrested a subject for Driving While License Invalid subsequent to a traffic stop in the 2300 block of Sycamore Avenue. During the inventory of the vehicle, another officer discovered narcotic contraband. The subject was jailed and a report was filed.

15-10476, 10:20 PM, Assist Other Agency/D.P.S.: An officer assisted a State Trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety in the pursuit of a vehicle and the eventual capture of the suspect after he came to a stop and fled on foot into a restaurant.

15-10388, 10:12 AM, Damage to University Property: A fire suppression system activation at Old Main Market (1003 Bearkat Boulevard)resulted in water damage in the kitchen area. At the time of the response, the cause of the activation was unknown.

15-10393, 12:28 PM, Theft: Employees in the Marketing and Communications Office reported that a possibly known suspect (a former intern) may have stolen several items from their department valued at a total of $929.65. An offense report was filed.

15-10400, 2:45 PM, Duty Upon Striking: An individual reported that his vehicle was struck and damaged by an unknown suspect while it was parked in the P-10 parking lot (800 block Bowers Boulevard). Witnesses provided a suspect description, along with a description of the suspect’s vehicle and its license plate number. The suspect and his vehicle were later identified. The investigation continues and an offense report was filed.

15-10425, 11:56 PM, Evading Arrest or Detention: A driver stopped for a traffic violation fled on foot after stopping (Sam Houston Avenue and Star Circle). The suspect was located nearby a short time later, and was determined to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The subject was jailed and a report filed.

15-10235, Harassment, 1:59 PM:  Employees from the Bursar's Office reported receiving harassing telephone calls from an unknown male subject.  Information was obtained and an investigation is ongoing.

15-10237, Damage to University Property, 3:30 PM: A physical Plant staff member reported damage to a multipurpose mobile cart by an unknown cause.  An offense report was completed.

15-10149, 12:17 AM, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia:  An individual was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop in the 2400 block of Montgomery Road.

15-10156, 8:00 AM, AOA Warrant Service:  An officer arrested an individual for multiple warrants following a traffic stop in the 2700 block of Old Houston Road.

15-10157, 8:23 AM, Driving While Intoxicated: An officer arrested an individual for Driving While Intoxicated following a traffic stop on Sam Houston Avenue.

15-10185, 7:16 PM, Damaged Vehicle:  While attempting to park at the Museum grounds (1836 Sam Houston Avenue) an individual ran over a curb stop causing damage to their vehicle.

15-10121, 5:26 PM, Theft:  An officer recovered a stolen driver's license following a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Sycamore Avenue.  A report was filed in reference to this incident.

15-10135, 9:17 PM, AOA Warrant Service:  An officer arrested an individual for an active warrant out of Galveston, Texas following a traffic stop in the 2500 block of Sam Houston Avenue.

15-10147, 11:42 PM, Failure to ID Fugitive From Justice:  An individual was arrested after giving officers multiple false names and dates of birth following a traffic stop int he 1400 block of 19th Street.  It should be noted that the subject also had local outstanding warrants of arrest.

15-10075, 9:57 PM, Possession of Marijuana: Officers investigating a suspicious vehicle parked behind the Walker Education Center (1400 block 19th Street) determined that one of the occupants was in possession of marijuana.  The subject was arrested and an offense report was filed.

15-9937, 9:52 AM, Possession of a Controlled Substance: While investigating a a report of a suspicious circumstance in a specific room at Bearkat Village (2400 Montgomery Road), officers determined that the occupant of the room was in possession of a controlled substance as well as alcohol by a minor.  The subject, a student, was arrested and an offense report was
completed.

15-9871, 10:38 AM, Traffic Arrest: A driver stopped for a traffic violation in the 1900 block of Bobby K. Marks drive was found to have no driver’s license nor insurance. The driver was arrested and placed in jail.

15-9793, 1:49 PM, Burglary of a Vehicle: An individual reported that her locked vehicle was broken into and several articles were stolen from the interior while the vehicle was parked in the P-16 (White Hall/HKC 800 block Bowers Boulevard) parking lot sometime during daytime hours on this date. Entry appeared to have been made by punching in one of the door locks. An investigation was initiated and a report filed.

15-9796, 2:30 PM, Burglary of a Vehicle: An individual reported that his locked vehicle was broken into and a handgun was stolen from the interior while the vehicle was parked in the P-6 (Library) parking lot (1800 block Bobby K Marks Drive) sometime during daytime hours on this date. Entry appeared to have been made by punching in one of the door locks. An investigation was initiated and a report was filed.

NOTE: Huntsville PD was also investigating several other daytime vehicle burglaries at multiple locations with entry made by similar means.

15-9820, 6:38 PM, Assist Other Agency/Huntsville PD: An officer assisted Huntsville PD officers in locating and detaining a pair of suspects in a theft that had just occurred at Wal-Mart. Stolen property was located nearby and recovered, and an arrest was made.

15-9698,  Assist Outide Agency/Huntsville PD: An officer responded to the 3400 block of Elks Drive in reference to a call for assistance in reference to a officer involved in a foot pursuit. 

15-9701, Criminal Trespass Warning Issued, 11:28 AM: An officer was dispatched to the library parking area (1800 block of Bobby K Marks Drive) in reference to a report of a suspicious person trying to sell candy.  The individual was located and it was determined that the individual was not a student nor in compliance with University policy.  The male was issued a criminal trespass warning for all SHSU property.

15-9702, Medical Assist,  1:00 PM:  An officer was dispatched to Raven Village (2133 Avenue I) to assist with a reported medical call.

15-9713, Damaged University Property, 4:06 PM:  An officer met with a university employee who reported that they were operating a university vehicle and struck a wall in the Sam South Complex (2424 Sam Houston Avenue).  An accident report was completed.
