Internal Grant Program

Sam Houston State University's Internal Grant Program is designed to support SHSU faculty members and researchers in turning unique concepts into innovative research projects, and to assist them in obtaining additional external funding for their professional development and research. Since 2003, over 200 members of the SHSU community have altogether earned over three million dollars in grant awards from this valuable funding resource.

The Internal Grant Program consists of two components: the Faculty Research Grant (FRG) and the Enhanced Research Grant (ERG). As the Internal Grant Program emphasizes the value of the proposed research rather than past productivity, new tenure-track faculty are especially encouraged to apply. Learn what you need to do to get started on your grant application today.

Please note - the guidelines have been updated for the 2018 grant cycle. Due to the university’s closure during Hurricane Harvey, the 2018 Internal Grant deadlines have been extended one week. This one-week extension is reflected in the dates listed below.
