Emergency Leave/Time Reporting...

SHSU campus closings began Friday, August 25, 2017 as follows:

  • The Woodlands Center @ 12:00 noon
  • Main Campus  @ 5:00 pm

The Labor Day holiday will be observed Monday, September 4, 2017 and campus activities are expected to return to normal on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. 

  • Non-exempt salaried employees should report time not worked after 5:00 pm on Friday, August 25, 2017 through 12:00 midnight Sunday Sept 3, 2017 as emergency leave on their online timesheet.
  • Non-exempt salaried employees working as essential personnel during this time should indicate compensatory hours earned/paid (please consult with your supervisor regarding which is to be used) on their online timesheet.
  • Faculty and exempt staff are usually not required to report emergency time, however due to the unique circumstances and insurance requirements, any hours worked should be reported utilizing the “Faculty and Exempt Staff Essential Personnel Hours Report” located here.

During the closure, there may be a need for essential personnel to be called into work.  As per Finance & Operations Policy FO-Pay-35, (Essential Personnel Reporting Requirements), essential personnel are defined as “employees required to remain onsite by their supervisor to protect university assets and provide support for emergency service”.  Please contact your immediate supervisor with any questions regarding your need to report to work.

Employee Education Release Time…

Please report time used for employee education release hours under "Employee Educ Release Time" on your online time sheet. Please contact the Payroll Office with any questions regarding how to report your time.

Additional information about the Employee Education Assistance Program is available from HR Policy B-5, Employee Development.  Please contact the Human Resources Department at 936-294-1070 with any questions regarding the policy.

Holiday Reporting for Non-Exempt Employees…

Beginning with Memorial Day on May 30th, please begin reporting holiday hours under Holiday Hours Taken on your online time sheet. For quick view assistance with reporting holiday time, please click here.

If you actually worked the holiday, please report the number of hours worked in the equivalent hours earned or equivalent paid, whichever your department has chosen, up to 8.00 hours (for full-time employees).
