  1. RAY GORDON DOLLAR, SR. SCHOLARSHIP: $600 per semester; Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in any discipline in the College of Business Administration and have sophomore, junior or senior standing. GPA requirement 2.8.
  2. DOUGLAS C. FLETCHER, SR. MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: Amount varies. Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student majoring in any discipline within the College of Business Administration, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 in their major, and a well-rounded, deserving student who did not receive any other scholarship in the same semester.
  3. GIBSON "GIB" D. LEWIS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN BUSINESS: $2,200 per year; minimum GPA of 2.5; Recipient must be majoring in one of the disciplines within the College of Business Administration, be a graduate of one of the five Tarrant County high schools: Castleberry, Azel, White Settlement, Boswell, or Lake Worth, demonstrate financial need and have the will and determination to succeed.
  4. DR. JAMES E. GILMORE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: Scholarship established in honor of Dr. James E. Gilmore, former Dean of the College of Business Administration. Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in any discipline in the College of Business Administration and have sophomore, junior or senior standing. Applicants must demonstrate financial need. GPA of 3.0 is required.
  5. WESLEY L. OAKES ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: Amount varies; Recipients must be "well-rounded", full-time undergraduate students majoring in any discipline in the College of Business Administration; be a junior or senior, having completed at least 60 hours of coursework prior to the semester that the scholarship is received; and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to students from Limestone, Freestone or Leon Counties. If no students from these counties qualify for the scholarship, a student from central Texas may be considered.
  6. SMITH-HUTSON COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIPS: Up to $7,000 per semester ($14,000 per year); Recipients must be entering freshmen, able to demonstrate financial need and have academic potential.  The scholarship is renewable for a maximum of four years if students maintain a 2.50 GPA and other program requirements. 
  7. RAYFORD LACEY HARDY AND MARGIE CRAWFORD HARDY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: Amount varies; recipient must be a full-time junior or senior student majoring in any program within the College of Business Administration. Preference will be given to students who are from Madison County. GPA of 3.00 is required.
  8. CHARLES R. CARLOW ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP:  $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student majoring in any discipline within the College of Business Administration.  2.5 GPA required.
  9. G. SCOTT AND MARY S. McCARLEY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP:  $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time junior or senior student in good standing, majoring in any program within the College of Business Administration and demonstrate financial need. 3.00 GPA required.
  10. J.N. AND VENNIE CRAWFORD BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION SCHOLARSHIP:  $1,000 per year.  Recipients must have completed two full years at Sam Houston State University, be currently enrolled at SHSU, and majoring in any program within the College of Business Administration.  3.00 GPA required. 
  11. EDWARD JAMES CRAWFORD SCHOLARSHIP:  $1,000 per year.  Recipients must have completed two full years at Sam Houston State University, be currently enrolled at SHSU, and majoring in any program within the College of Business Administration. 3.00 GPA required. 
  12. FAITH FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP:  Amount varies;  Recipient must be majoring in any program within the College of Business Administration and have completed a minimum of 15 credit hours at Sam Houston State University.  GPA of 3.00 is required. 
  13. RON MAFRIGE ENDOWMENT FOR COLLEGE OF BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIPS IN HONOR OF R. DEAN LEWIS:  $2,000 per year.  Recipients must be full-time undergraduate students majoring in any discipline within the College of Business Administration and demonstrate financial need.  GPA of 2.50 is required. 
  14. RUSSELL D. GORDY SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT: Amount varies per year. Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in any discipline within the College of Business Administration, and must demonstrate financial need.  GPA of 3.00 is required.  Deadline for application submission is January 31. 
  15. TOMMY METCALF ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a graduate of Conroe High School, a full-time undergraduate student in good standing, enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in any discipline within the College of Business Administration, and demonstrate financial need.  GPA of 2.00 is required. 
  16. JESSICA LEE HAYS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND:  $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time freshman or transfer student in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in any program within the College of Business Administration; demonstrate financial need; and be a graduate of Tomball High School.  GPA of 3.00 is required.
  17. DAVIS-HOLDEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT FUND:  $2,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time student in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, have completed at least 48 hours of study at SHSU, be a citizen of the United States,be gainfully employed for a minimum of 20 hours per week per semester or participate in an employment internship program in lieu of gainful employment, and declare a major or minor in business entrepreneurship.  GPA of 2.75 is required. Financial need is a consideration.
  18. BILLY AND KATHY SMITH COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION: $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in any discipline within the College of Business Administration; and be a graduate of a high school in Madison, Leon, or Houston counties.  First preference shall be given to a Madison County graduate.  Financial need is a consideration but not a determining factor.  GPA of 3.00 is required. 
  19. FARM CREDIT BANK SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time junior or senior undergraduate student in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in any discipline within the College of Business Administration.  GPA of 3.00 is required. 
  20. RANDY G. WALLACE BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION AND SCHOLARSHIP FUND: $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time graduate or undergraduate student in good standing enrolled or admitted to Sam Houston State University with a major in one of the fields of study offered by COBA, or with a minor in Entrepreneurship; and submit, individually or as a member of a team, a proposed business plan which is entered into the Competition.  No GPA requirement.
  21. DR. & MRS. ELLIOTT BOWERS MINORITY ASSISTANCE SCHOLARSHIP:  Amount varies; Recipient must be an undergraduate or graduate student in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in any discipline within the College of Business Administration.  Recipient must have completed 15 semester hours at Sam Houston State University and have at least a GPA of 2.50 or above.  Scholarship will be awarded to a minority student of good character.
  22. JOHNSON-BROWN-PERKINS SCHOLARSHIP: Amount varies; Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in any program within the College of Business Administration; demonstrate financial need.  GPA of 3.0 is required.  Preference will be given to students who are from Leon County.
  23. JOE "BUTCH" MACKENZIE SCHOLARSHIP:  $2,000 per year.  Recipient must be a returning Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate student in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in any discipline within the College of Business Administration; demonstrate financial need.  GPA of 2.8 is required.
  24. JEAN NEAL SCHOLARSHIP:  Amount varies; Recipient must be a Junior in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in any program within the College of Business Administration; complete 30 semester hours at Sam Houston State University; must be a member of a COBA Organization.  GPA of 3.0 is required.
  25. KAILAS AND BECKY RAO SCHOLARSHIP IN HONOR OF B.K. MARKS:  $1,800 per year; Recipient must be a full-time graduate student in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in any program within the College of Business Administration; must be involved with community service.  Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need.  GPA of 3.0 is required. 
  26. EDWIN G. SANDHOP JR. SCHOLARSHIP: Amount varies; Recipient must be a Junior in a good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in Accounting or Finance.
  27. ED & GENEVIEVE SANDHOP SCHOLARSHIP:  Amount varies; Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in any discipline within the College of Business Administration.  Recipient must have at least a GPA of 2.50 or above.  Recipient must be employed and demonstrate financial need.  Preference will be given to Walker County residents.
  28. J. ROY WELLS SCHOLARSHIP: Amount varies; Recipient must be a returning Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate student in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in Accounting, General Business Administration, or Finance (preference will be given in that order); demonstrate financial need.  GPA of 2.85 is required.
  29. WOOD/YAGER SCHOLARSHIP:  $1,000 per year; Recipient must be an undergraduate or graduate student in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in any discipline with in the College of Business Administration.  Recipient must have at least a GPA of 3.0 or above.
  30. KEENER FAMILY COBA SCHOLARSHIP:  $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time student of junior classification, in good standing, majoring in accounting or finance.  GPA of 3.30 is required.  Application deadline is mid-February. 
  31. BONNIE VICK KITTLEBAND COBA ENDOWMENT:  $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate, any classification, in good standing and majoring in any discipline within the College of Business Administration; demonstrate financial need.  GPA of 3.00 is required.  Application deadline is February 15th. 
  32. DAVIS-HOLDEN ENTRPRENEURSHIP BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT: $2,000 minimum, full-time student in good standing, must have completed at least 48 hours of study; be a U.S. Citizen who graduated from a High School in Walker County, Texas; be employed 20 hrs a week per semester or participate in an emplyee intern program. Maintain an overall GPA of 2.75, and declare a major or minor within the College of Business Administration.
  33. JOHN PATRICK SINGLETON (CLASS OF 1965) MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Donors will provide funding for 2 annual scholarships reipients must be a full undergraduate or graduate student in good standing; majoring in any discipline within the Collge of Business Admin; demonstrate financial need, amintain an over all GPA of 3.0 While not required, preferential consideration will be given to student who are members of Alpha Kappa Psy Business Fraternity.
  34. THOMAS K. HARRISON BUSINESS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 per year. Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in good standing, majoring in any discipline within the College of Business Administration, and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  35. CHARLES W. JONES III MBA FELLOWSHIP: Recipient must be a full-time or part-time (taking a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester) graduate student in good standing enrolled in the MBA program at Sam Houston State university; be employed by Wells Fargo Dealer Services

DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING

  1. CAROL LEE SANGSTER ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP: Student must be in good standing, an accounting major, and meet the requirements of the scholarship committee.
  2. DR. CLINTON ALTHAUS ENDOWED ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP: 2.7 GPA or higher. Accounting Major, having completed 9 hours of accounting including Intermediate I, financial need, junior, senior, or graduate student.
  3. DR. RITA HUFF ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP: 3.5 GPA or higher, good leadership qualities, completed one semester of advanced accounting courses (300 or 400 level) at SHSU (minimum 6 hours), have potential for success in field of accounting.
  4. EDWIN G. SANDHOP JR ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: Amount varies; Recipient must be a junior Business Administration student majoring in Accounting or Finance. Application deadline Feb. 15 (no earlier than Jan 2).
  5. ELWOOD PARKHILL MEMORIAL ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP: 3.0 GPA or higher, good leadership qualities, completed one semester of accounting study at SHSU (minimum - 12 hours) and have at least one semester of college remaining, have potential for success in field of accounting, pursuing a degree in accounting, worked at least part-time while attending college.
  6. HILDRETH HOSEA SMITH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: 3.5 GPA or higher, good leadership qualities, completed one semester at SHSU, completed Intermediate Accounting I satisfactorily, have potential for success in the field of accounting.
  7. H.O. AND LAQUITA CRAWFORD ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: Amount varies; Recipients must be majoring in accounting, demonstrate financial need, exhibit leadership qualities, and be of high moral and ethical character.3.0 GPA requirement. Application deadline Feb. 15 (no earlier than Jan 2).
  8. J. ROY WELLS BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP: Enrolled in courses in College of Business Administration, 2.85 GPA or higher, selection based on character, scholarship, potential in the individual's area of study (students majoring in accounting have top priority) and financial need, Texas resident.
  9. LEONARD AND MARLENE KEELING ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: Amount varies; Recipients must be an incoming freshman or undergraduate students majoring in a financial field, with preference given to student majoring in accounting and demonstrate financial need with a GPA requirement of a 3.0. Deadline date for application is February 15th.
  10. RUTH LYNN AND JACK C. PARKER ENDOWED SCHOLARHIP: Recipient must be a full-time junior or senior majoring the Accounting, with an overall GPA of 3.5 or better in accounting and express a goal of completing the CPA examination. Deadline for application is February 15th.
  11. W.O. "BUD" WHITLOCK ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: 3.0 GPA, accounting major, financial need.
  12. MONA ERIKA BARRAGAN ETHICS IN ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP:  $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time graduating Department of Accounting senior enrolled in the 5-year Accounting or Masters in Accountancy program, demonstrate financial need, and answer two short essay questions.  Contact Department of Accounting for the questions.  GPA of 3.0 overall and in accounting is required. Application deadline is January 31. 
  13. DEVON ENERGY ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP:  $1,250 per year.   Recipient must be a full-time senior or graduate student majoring in accounting and be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.  GPA of 3.0 is required.  Application deadline varies (approximately the first week of February). 
  14. DIXIE MEYERS ACCOUNTING ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP:  $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time student entering their senior year, in good standing, enrolled at Sam Houston State University and majoring in Accounting, be a first generation student who exhibits an aptitude in accounting.  Financial need will be a consideration, but not a determining factor.  GPA of 3.00 is required.  Application deadline is February 6, 2008.

  1. DOW CHEMICAL SHSU ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP(S): Number of scholarships awarded varies;
  2. ERNST AND YOUNG SHSU ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP: 3.3 GPA or higher, completed Intermediate I, interested in accounting or taxation, completed at least one semester at SHSU and classified as a second semester junior or be in the second semester or graduate school with a graduation date not later than 18 months from the end of the current semester, financial need.

  1. FIRST VICTORIA BANK SCHOLARSHIP: 3.0 GPA/higher, Banking or Finance major, graduate of New Waverly or Huntsville High School preferred.

DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS & INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS
 

  1. ARMSTRONG ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: Two scholarships awarded. Amounts vary from year to year, depending on endowment earnings. Recipient(s) must (1) be juniors or seniors at SHSU, majoring in International Business and/or Economics, having completed 60 hours; and (2) maintain a 3.0 GPA. Should include a paper written by applicant stating his/her reasons for promoting the free enterprise system and its advantages.
  2. WILLIAM B. GREEN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP: $1000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time junior or senior student in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in International Business.  GPA of 3.0 is required.  Application deadline is February 8th. 
  3. OLAF AND AGNES BERG SCHOLARSHIP:  $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time junior, senior, or graduate student in good standing; and be the outstanding Business Analysis Student of the Year as determined by the Business Analysis professors in the Department of Economics and International Business.  GPA of 3.00 is required. 
  4. ECONOMICS AND INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP:  $500.  Recipient must be a full-time student; have at least 50 hours completed; GPA of 3.0 or better is required.  Three or four scholarships ($500 each) are awarded.
  5. GRADY L. AND FUMIE O. COULTER MEMORIAL ECONOMICS AND INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP:  $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time student in good standing, majoring in Economics or International Business; be of junior or senior standing by the time of the award year.  Financial need is a consideration but not a determining factor. Overall GPA of 2.80 is required.  A 3.00 GPA in major is required.  Deadline is February 15th.
  6. ASSAM ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP:  $500 per semester.  Recipient must be a full-time junior or senior in good standing; majoring in economics or international business; must have received the highest grade in the Monetary Economics course in the previous semester.  GPA of 3.00 is required.  Application deadline is February 15th of each year.

  1. HOUSTON CHAPTER – INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONALS/DR. RITA B. HUFF AND DR. RONALD JOHNSON ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: 3.0 GPA/higher, GBA major
  2. LAURENCE L. CORLEY SCHOLARSHIP: 3.0 GPA/higher, GBA or Finance major.
  3. LILLIAN LOYCE ADAMS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: Female General Business and Finance major.
  4. GENE P. HEINRICH MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP: GBA & Finance major with a 3.0 GPA
  5. CHARLES W. JONES III ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 per year.  Recipients must be full-time or part-time (minimum of 6 hours) undergraduate students majoring in finance.  Financial need is a consideration, but not a determining factor.  2.50 GPA requirement.
  6. GENE HEINRICH MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time junior or senior student having completed a minimum of 60 credit hours, in good standing, enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in General Business Administration, and demonstrate financial need.  GPA of 3.00 is required.  Application deadline is January 7th.
The preceding is endowed scholarships and may vary from year to year depending on endowed earnings.

 

  1. JUANITA EIKNER SCHOLARSHIP: 3.0 GPA/higher, GBA or Finance major.
  2. FINANCIAL EXECUTIVES INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP: Finance or Accounting major for alternating years.
  3. DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL BUSINESS AND FINANCE FACULTY SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time junior, senior, or graduate student in good standing, majoring in any program within the Department of General Business and Finance; and demonstrate financial need by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or, if they have not completed the FAFSA, they may submit an essay explaining their financial need.  GPA of 3.00 is required.  Application deadline is Feb. 1st. 
  4. BALA AND SANTHI MANIAM FINANCE SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 per year.  Recipients must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in good standing, who has been admitted to Sam Houston State University for the Master of Business Administration program or the BBA in Business Administration.  New students may also apply; and have and maintain a minimum SHSU GPA of 3.0 overall or minimum unweighted high school GPA of 3.0 for incoming freshman or GMAT score of 450 for incoming graduate students.  Application deadline is February 20.
  5. LOZANO FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP:  $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student in good standing and majoring in finance.  Preference will be given to students from Tarrant County.  Financial need will be a consideration but not a determining factor.  GPA of 2.50 is required.  Application deadline is Feb. 1st.
  6. CHANCE AND KATHERINE BROWN SCHOLARSHIP FOR ENTREPRENEURIAL STUDIES:  $1,000 per year. Recipient must be a full-time junior or senior student in good standing, majoring in entrepreneurship.  Student must demonstrate a financial need and maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.50.  Application deadline is February 20.
  7. CITIZENS NATIONAL BANK ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP:  $1,000 per year. Recipient must be a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior and maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.00.

DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT & MARKETING
 

  1. LOVELL FAMILY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 per year, two scholarships, selection based on academic excellence and students working their way through college are preferred recipients. GPA requirement of 2.5 overall.
  2. J.E. "BO" CREWS RETAILING AWARD: $1,000per year, selection made by donor and based upon academic excellence and interest in a career in the retail field.
  3. HELEN COCHRAN GILLILAND HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT SCHOLARSHIP: $2,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student classified as a junior or senior by the fall semester after receiving the award, be in good standing and majoring in Human Resource Management.  Financial need will be a consideration, but not a determining factor.  GPA of 3.00 is required.  Application deadline is February 1st. 
  4. ED AND DAPHNE SOWER MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT: $1,000 per year. Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in Management with an Operations Management emphasis, and demonstrate financial need.  The scholarship is automatically renewable for up to three years as long as the recipient continues to meet the selection criteria.  GPA of 2.50 is required.  Application deadline is January 31st.
  5. ROBERT A. BARRAGAN ETHICS IN BUSINESS MANAGEMENT SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time student majoring in Management, & demonstrate financial need. GPA requirement of 3.0 overall and in management.
  6. DR. PAUL R. AND EMILY J. REED HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP:  $2,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University, majoring in Human Resource Management, and have a minimum of 30 credit hours.  Financial need will be consideration, but not a determining factor.  GPA of 2.50 is required.  Application deadline is January 31st.
  7. VICTOR E. AND JUDITH SOWER SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 per year.  Recipient must be a full-time graduate student in good standing and enrolled in the Masters of Business Administration with a focus in Operations.  GPA of 3.50 is required. Refer to ScholarX for dates.

DEPARTMENT OF PGA PROFESSIONAL GOLF MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

  1. PGA/PGM DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS: Recipients must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students majoring in General Business Administration with a minor in Professional Golf Management and be a member of one of the following groups:
    *African-American - U.S. Citizen having origins in any of the Black racial groups of Africa
    *Asian-Indian American - U.S. Citizen whose origins are from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh
    *Asian-Pacific American - U.S. Citizen whose origin are from Asia
    *Hispanic American - U.S. Citizen of true born Hispanic heritage from any of the Spanish speaking areas of Latin America
    *White Female American - U.S. Female White Citizen
    Amount varies per year; GPA requirement 2.0 . Application Deadline: November 1st.
