13th Annual Teaching and Learning Conference at Sam Houston State University
TLC16 will be held on the campus of SHSU (in the CHSS and LSC buildings) on Thursday, August 18th, 2016 from 9:00am to 3:00pm. All instructors, including tenure-track faculty, adjunct and clinical faculty, graduate Teaching Assistants, and teaching staff, are welcome. The goal of the conference is to gather a community of practice to improve teaching here at SHSU, with the ultimate goal of enhancing student learning.
Keynote Speaker
We are very pleased to announce that our keynote speaker will be Dr. Todd Zakrajsek (Watch his Tedx Talk here), Executive Director for the Academy of Educators , Associate Director of Fellowship Programs, and Associate Professor of Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. His most recent publications include Teaching for Learning: 101 Intentionally Designed Educational Activities to Put Students on the Path to Success (Claire Major, Michael Harris, and Todd Zakrajsek; Routledge, 2016) and The New Science of Learning: How to Learn in Harmony with Your Brain (Terry Doyle and Todd Zakrajsek:Stylus, 2013). He has delivered addresses at over 200 campuses and teaching conferences. Dr. Zakrajsek has a Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology.
