Dr. Kim’s research interests include Public Budgeting and Finance, State and Local Government Financial Management, Public Sector Cash Management and Investment Policy, Governmental Accounting, and Financial Management for Not-for-Profit Organizations. His current research focuses on the effect of prudent person rule on state-run local government investment pools and the application of modern portfolio theory to public sector investment management. Dr. Kim joined the faculty of the Department of Political Science at SHSU in 2010. He teaches American Public Policy and Economic Policy in undergraduate program and Scope & Methods of Political Science and Local Government Budgets & Financial Management in the Master of Public Administration Program.
