Research Interests

I study plant morphology, plant physiology, phytochemistry, plant hormones, fern gametophyte biology, isolation and chemical characterization of fern antheridiogens. I currently have the following projects (1) characterization of antheridiogens and gibberellins of Anemia mexicana. (2) Chemical characterization of antheridiogens of Pteridium aquilinum and Thelypteris kunthii. (3) Experimental studies of gametophyte development and obligate apogamy in Pellaea atropurpurea. (4) Morphological and molecular characterization of a Thelypteris hybrid from Walker County, Texas. (5) Spore longevity in Anemia mexicana and Pellaea atropurpurea and (6) Spore production in several pteridophytes from Walker County, Texas.
