Rice M. Tilley '19

Rice M. TilleyRice M. Tilley was born in Huntsville. He is a graduate of Sam Houston State Teachers College in 1919 and of the University of Texas Law School in 1922. He began his practice of law in Corsicana in 1922 and moved to Austin in early January 1927 after having been appointed by Claude Pollard as Assistant Attorney General. In 1930 he was appointed First Assistant Attorney General. He served as Legal Advisor to the State Senate in 1931 and after the session ended re-entered private practice in Fort Worth. Mr. Tilley served in the Army in World War I. He has served as president of two life insurance companies and in the capacity of director in a number of other business institutions. He was senior member in the law firm of Stone, Tilley, Parker, Snakard, Law and Brown and is now counsel to the successor firm, Law, Snakard, Brown and Gam- bill. Mr. Tilley married Lucille Kelly of Austin in 1932 and they have two children Rice M. Tilley, Jr., a member of the above- named law firm, and Nancy Sharon Snyder, wife of John C. Snyder. Mr. Rice is a member of the Alumni Association's VIP Club.
