Joseph L. "Bud" Haney

The only athlete in SHSU’s history to make the First Team All-American for four consecutive years in any sport, Joseph L. “Bud” Haney is a 1963 graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting.

The founder, president and Chief Financial Officer of Profiles International, a Waco-based occupational assessment company, which now contributes upwards of $15 to $20 million to the local economy, Haney is also the co-author of “40 Strategies for Winning in Business.”
   
“I am keenly aware of his background as an extraordinary athlete as a College All American for four years while attending Sam Houston. This accomplishment was not only a personal achievement; it also clearly reflects the nurturing that he received at Sam Houston that inspired him to greater heights of achievement” said one nomination letter. “His unfortunate injury while playing professional major league baseball was clearly baseballs’ loss, but conversely, it was a huge gain for our country’s private sector enterprises.”

He and his wife, Joan, have three sons. They live in Waco.
