Design and Development

The Design and Development option focuses on creating drawings and sketches of products. Designers assist engineers in developing product prototypes and models. The concentration focuses on design study to assist in implementation of technology innovation, materials, and aesthetic values. The academic concentration is interdisciplinary with course requirements in business/ marketing, management, production, and quality control analysis.  Competencies to obtain by the student will include:

  • Computer and presentation skills
  • Comprehension of blueprints and product design specifications
  • Problem- solving skills
  • Communication skills

As a graduate of the Design and Development in the Industrial Technology Program, you will find career opportunities in entry-level management positions as a:

  • CAD operator in industry
  • Product Designer
  • Architectural Designer
