SHSU pursuant to and in accordance with applicable federal and state law (including Title VII and Title IX) and institutional values, prohibits discrimination or harassment in employment, educational programs, activities, and admissions on the basis of the following categories: race, creed, ancestry, marital status, citizenship, color, national origin, sex (which, per statue and judicial interpretation includes pregnancy, sexual preference and gender identity), religion, age, disability, or veteran's status.

Discrimination - conduct directed at a specific individual or a group of identifiable individuals that subjects the individual group to treatment that: 

  • adversely affects the individual or group's employment or education, and
  • is different than similarly situated individuals or groups with regard to a SHSU service, benefits, or privilege because of the categories detailed in section 1 above
