What is CashCourse?
CashCourse is an online financial education resource designed specifically for college and university students. The program takes a whole-life approach to personal finances. CashCourse is managed by the Higher Education Financial Wellness Alliance (HEFWA) and is free for Sam Houston State University students.
Student Money Management assigns a CashCourse module once in the fall and once in the spring. Any enrolled student who completes the module with an 80% or above on the post-quiz will be entered to win one of two $500 scholarships.
SMM supports its mission to help Bearkats achieve financial independence by offering presentations that empower and educate participants. SMM staff provides presentations on various topics to students, faculty, and staff throughout the year. After scheduling a presentation, a representative from SMM will contact you within 48 hours of receiving the request. Please allow two weeks' advance notice when possible. Presentations can be tailored to fit an audience better; please reach out if you need this service.

What is a Coaching Session?
Coaching sessions are private, confidential sessions in which a student can discuss financial questions and concerns to receive tailored financial education, and collaborate on a unique action plan. We can discuss a wide variety of financial topics with you, depending on what your needs and interests are. The goals of our coaching sessions include: helping students understand their fee statement, assess their financial aid package and refund, reduce their student debt, navigate the process of student loan repayment smoothly, and help students to stay in school.
