As an employee, you have access to the LinkedIn Learning library that contains a vast array of video courses. Once logged in with your SHSU credentials, you can connect to your LinkedIn profile and complete training to meet your annual professional development requirements. Upon completion, you need to add that training to your transcripts in Talent Management as external training.

Various departments and organizations offer instructor-led and OnDemand trainings to help complete business processes and grow professionally. You can register or watch one of these trainings through Talent Management online or with the Cornerstone Learning App.

You may take college courses directly related to your current or prospective job duties within your department to fulfill your annual professional development requirements. You can earn professional development credit on a 1-to-1 hourly basis. For example, if you are in class (or take equivalent online courses) twice a week for a total of 3 hours, you would earn 3 credits for the week toward your requirement. Full time (1.0 FTE) benefits-eligible staff employees who have six months of full-time continuous employment may be eligible for the Employee Tuition Assistance program. SHSU will waive institutional tuition and fees for courses taken at SHSU. You will only be responsible for the payment of statutory tuition.

Employee Tuition Assistance Program

The High Potential Employee Leadership Academy is a 9-month experience that involves a series of monthly development sessions that address key leadership topics and provide opportunity for community relations.

More about the Leadership Academy

You may attend external training when internal training is not available to satisfy the need. Requests for external training should be directed to your supervisor for approval and budget availability.

Departments may develop online courses or live training events to communicate about their services, business processes, or demonstrate their product. People Operations  will assist departments in creating all online courses and live events in Talent Management. Instructors are responsible for maintaining live event sessions.

Instructors

All live events must have at least one instructor who manages the roster and session creation. This person does not need to be the host. Prior to event creation, instructors must complete Talent Management Instructor Training.
