Welcome to SHSU-COM Orientation. These sessions are designed to help you become familiar with the college, connect with classmates, meet faculty and staff, and prepare for the academic and professional expectations of medical school.

Orientation Schedule

All orientation events will be held at the COM building in the Active Learning Classroom on the first floor, ALC 115, unless otherwise noted. Orientation events are mandatory unless specifically marked as optional. Attire is business casual unless otherwise specified. You will receive your Dell device on the first day of orientation and should bring it with you each day.

White Coat Ceremony

The White Coat Ceremony marks the beginning of your journey as a student doctor and your formal welcome into the osteopathic medical profession. Students will participate in a ceremony rehearsal and preparation activities before the event.

White Coat Schedule

The ceremony will be held at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum in Huntsville, Texas. Attire is business/dressy. Guest seating is open, and tickets are not required. There is no limit on the number of guests students may invite.
