Create a Student Organization

If SHSU does not offer a student organization that you would like to be a part of on campus, start your own!

Things to Know

A new student organization is one that has never been on campus before. A returning organization has been recognized on campus before but is not currently recognized.

Applications for new and returning organizations open on the first class day of the fall semester and close on the last class day of the spring semester. Students can fill out an application at any point during that timeframe. To complete an application, you will need:

  • At least five student members
  • One faculty/staff advisor employed at the campus your organization presides
  • A constitution that adheres to the Constitution Checklist provided by the Department of Campus Activities & Involvement
