Accepted Bearkat Connect Checklist
You've been accepted. Now what? Use this checklist to complete your next steps, stay on track, and get ready for your first semester as a Bearkat Connect student.
Confirm your spot in the Bearkat Connect program.
If you have not already accepted your offer, log in to the Student Portal and confirm that you want to join the Bearkat Connect program.
You should receive an email from IT with your username and an activation link. If you do not receive the email, go to SamWeb to activate your account.

Set up your Lamar Institute of Technology account and email.
Bearkat Connect students will also need to activate their LIT account and email. Follow the instructions provided by Lamar Institute of Technology after accepting your Bearkat Connect offer.
Send your final official high school transcript to SHSU.
After graduation, ask your high school registrar to send your final official high school transcript to SHSU. This step is required and may impact your financial aid or enrollment if it is not completed.

Complete only if applicable
Submit transcripts of all coursework completed before attending SHSU (dual credit/college coursework or AP/CLEP scores) to the Admissions Office after you have received final course grades.
All transcripts must be official and from the college awarding credit.

Submit your TSI scores or any required TSI documentation to the Office of the Registrar at SHSU.

Submit meningitis documentation to the SHSU Student Health Center. This documentation is required before you can complete certain enrollment steps, including housing and registration.

Request your Bearkat OneCard, the official ID of SHSU, online or in person. You must present a valid government or state issued photo ID to request your Bearkat OneCard.

Complete your housing application through SHSU's Residence Life office.

You will receive an email from the SAM Center with information about academic advising. Complete advising before making registration decisions.

Remember to contact your advisor before making any schedule changes. You must stay enrolled in your SHSU and LIT courses to remain in the Bearkat Connect program.
You will receive an email in your SHSU email account with a link to register for orientation at SHSU.
