Benefits of Your OneCard

Your Bearkat OneCard works for campus ID, meal plans, housing, library services, athletic events, Student Center functions, wellness facilities, Kat Klub, health services, and more.

If this is your first-time card and you are an in-person student or employee, stop by our office to pick up your Bearkat OneCard. If you don’t already have a photo on file, we will take on for you in office. If you are an online student or employee, or if you would just like to submit a photo online ahead of time, please do so through the Requesting a Card section.

Please be sure you:

  • Bring a valid government issued ID.
  • Have a valid and current address on file with the University.
  • Are registered for classes.
  • Are a member of SHSU Faculty/Staff.

Replacements are available by coming to our office (Estill Building, Suite 103) or if you are an online student or employee, you may email us requesting it to be mailed.
Replacement cards are $25. The charge will be added to your student account the following business day. Worn or returning student cards can be replaced for free with proof.

What Should I Do If My Card Is Lost or Stolen?

Deactivate your card through onecard.shsu.edu and select “Lost Card”. This will ensure that no one can use any access on your card such as for your dorm or Bearkat Bucks. If you are having trouble deactivating your card, please visit or call us for assistance.

To get a replacement card, visit the Managing Your Card section.

What If My Card Is Worn Out?

Wear and tear replacements are free with in-person proof at our office in the Estill Building, Suite 103. Online students or remote employees may email us a photo of both sides of the card so we can verify the state of the card.

What is the difference between Bearkat Bucks and VibeAccount?

Bearkat Bucks are pre-paid dining funds for on campus use.

VibeAccount is an optional student checking account insured by FDIC, used for refunds and direct deposit. A debit card is issued by BankMobile and can be used anywhere a debit card is accepted.

What is Event Tracking?

Event tracking allows faculty and staff to monitor participation in department-hosted events. At the event, participants will tap their ID cards into iPads we provide, and details such as enrollment status, classification, and email address will be captured. After the event, a report with this information will be provided to you. This data can be used to help plan future events, follow up with attendees, or distribute surveys.

How Does it Work?

You will submit the Event Tracking Request Form with all of your event information. We will review your submission and follow up within 5-7 business days. Once approved, you will receive a calendar invite with more information such as when to pick up the devices and how to use them.

What are Badges?

Badges are used for visual identification purposes and do not contain any encoded data. They help clearly display a person’s name, role, or affiliation, especially in environments where verification is needed. Badges are commonly worn when individuals represent the university in off-campus settings or while performing official duties on campus. Department admins can request badges through the Badge Request Form. Students and employees cannot request badges on their own, so they must go through their admins to request a badge.

Each badge is $5 to the requesting department. Replacement badges are $10 and will be added to the student or employee's account unless the department would like to cover the cost.

Please note we do not mail out badges.
