How to Request a Bearkat OneCard: 

First-time freshmen, transfer, and first-year COM students can pick up their card during orientation. 


Fully online students or remote staff, may request their OneCard to be mailed after photo approval. All others must pick up their cards in the Student Account Services office.  

What you need when ordering: 

  • A headshot photo meeting these specs: Shoulders-to-head, well-lit, no filters or hats  
  • A valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID.
  • Valid forms of ID include a driver’s license, state ID, passport, permanent resident card, Mexican consular ID, student visa, or certificate of naturalization. 
  • Acceptable IDs must clearly show the account holder’s name, ID number, expiration date, issuance date (if applicable), state of issuance, and date of birth; name discrepancies require official documentation through the Registrar’s Office. 
  • The following are not valid for identity verification: Social Security cards, birth certificates, bank or employer IDs, university IDs, voter registration cards, utility or school bills, or any expired ID. 
  • Must be registered for classes or employed by SHSU.  

Replacement, lost-stolen, or worn-condition cards: 

  • Request in-person or by email. Fees apply for lost cards; worn out cards may be replaced free with proof.

Lost or Stolen Card 

  •  To deactivate your card, please visit onecard.shsu.edu and select the "Lost Card" option. This will prevent anyone who finds your card from accessing any privileges attached to your card.
  • In Person: Stop by the Student Account Services Office (located in the Estill Building Suite 103) Monday-Friday from 8AM - 5PM to get a replacement. 
  • Email: Email us at saservices@shsu.edu to order a replacement if you are an online student or remote employee.

Worn Out Card 

You can order a replacement card for FREE: 

  • In Person: Stop by the Student Account Services Office (located in the Estill Building Suite 103) Monday-Friday from 8AM - 5PM.
  • Email: Email us at saservices@shsu.edu to order a replacement if you are an online student or employee.

Note: You must provide proof of a worn out card in person or by email in order to have the fee waived.

Update Photo on Card 

  • In Person:  Stop by the Student Account Services Office (located in the Estill Building Suite 103) Monday-Friday from 8AM - 5PM to get your photo taken. 
  • Online:  Submit a photo online by referencing the photo guidelines in the section above. Once completed, we will review your photo and you will receive an approval or denial email.

 

Choose your refund method:

Students have control of how they receive refunds from SHSU. Refunds may include but are not limited to: excess financial aid money or dropped class refunds. Sam Houston State University delivers your refund with BankMobile Disbursements, a technology solution, powered by BMTX, Inc. We recommend students select the refund method that works the best for them.

Students have two options for receipt of refunds:  

  1. DEPOSIT TO AN EXISTING ACCOUNT – Money is transferred to an existing account the same business day BMTX, Inc. receives funds from your school. Typically, it takes one to two business days for the receiving bank to credit the money to your account.
  2. DEPOSIT TO A BANKMOBILE VIBE ACCOUNT – If you open a BankMobile Vibe checking account (upon identity verification), money is deposited the same business day BMTX, Inc. receives funds from your school.

Set Up Direct Deposit:

If you’re a student employee, select where you’d like your pay deposited: 

  1. An outside bank account, or 
  2. A BankMobie Vibe account (FDIC-insured) 

 

Students can verify or modify their disbursement preference at any time by logging on to their account at  www.bearkatone.com.

Need to track event attendance?

Departments can submit requests using the Event Management form. In order to optimize the efficiency of our Event Tracking System, please submit your request at least 5-7 business days prior to your event date.

Need an Employee or Student Badge? 

Request badges for employees or specialty student needs. This option lets you include names or titles. Submit your request via the Badge card form.

Each badge is $5.00.
