The SHSU Alumni Association welcomes alumni, friends, faculty, staff, students and parents into the membership ranks. You do not need to be a graduate of SHSU to be a member of this vibrant Bearkat community. Life Membership is the only official membership level we offer for the SHSU Alumni Association and it comes with many benefits.
Our life memberships now number over 4,500 alumni who have chosen to give back and connect with their University on a deeper level. As the name implies, membership is a one-time payment (or payment plan), that covers you for life, and benefits continue to expand and adapt over time. Your gift of membership goes into the Life Member endowment, where it will continue to give back to the association in perpetuity.

In 2024, the Alumni Association implemented a new membership model. By moving to an inclusive, non-dues-based model all graduates of Sam Houston State University are now general members of the SHSU Alumni Association, with no monetary contribution required. Being a general member of the SHSU Alumni Association allows you to rekindle and strengthen the relationships you made at SHSU. We invite you and encourage you to get involved through regional networking activities, attending alumni events, and supporting your alma mater through your time, talent and treasure. Being an active member helps make a difference. Simply put, your membership matters.

Yes, our SHSU Life Memberships are open to any and all SHSU supporters. If you would like to include your spouse/partner in your Life Membership, select the ‘Joint’ Membership option on any of the different Life Membership types on our Life Membership Store.

Members who are making monthly installment payments toward life memberships can update their credit card information by calling 936.294.1841 or toll-free 1.800.283.7478.

SHSUAA considers your dues and any sustaining contributions you make to be charitable donations. In some cases, they are tax deductible. Please consult your tax adviser for further information about your specific circumstances.
SHSU Alumni maintain access to their email accounts upon graduation, as long as they keep the account active/password current. If the SHSU email goes into deactivation, alumni can go back in and reactive at https://account.shsu.edu. If you have any questions or issues, please contact the IT Service Desk at 936-294-1950.
To participate without financial consideration, please email alumni@shsu.edu and state that you would like a "no consideration form". Form must be completed and returned by the specified deadline. Incomplete entry forms could be considered ineligible.
