Whether you’re transferring from a community college or another university, SHSU makes the process seamless and rewarding. You’ll gain access to academic support, scholarships, and a welcoming Bearkat community that’s ready to help you succeed.

Who Qualifies to Transfer

We accept up to 70 transferable credit hours from accredited institutions. Your admission requirements depend on how many transferable hours you’ve completed.

  • 0-11 Transfer Hours Meet freshman requirements & have a 2.5 GPA on transferable hours.
  • 12-17 Transfer Hours Requires 2.5 GPA on transferable hours.
  • 18+ Transfer Hours Requires 2.0 GPA on transferable hours.

Application Checklist

Follow these simple steps to apply as a transfer student:

Complete your application through ApplyTexas or the Common App and pay the application fee.

Submit transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities. Our code is 003606.
