Readmission Checklist

Know you want to return to SHSU, but don’t know how? We’re here to help. We believe once a Bearkat, always a Bearkat, and you’re living proof of that. Everyone at SHSU is ready to welcome you back to continue pursuing excellence. Here’s where to start:

For students who were previously on suspension or probation, Intent to Return Admission form tells us that you are back and ready to rise to greater. It also helps the admissions team guide you through the required paperwork and meetings.

For students who needed to step away for a bit due to a family emergency or similar issues and were not placed on suspension or probation, all you need to do is apply through ApplyTexas, pay the application fee, and you’re back in action.

Whether you’re meeting someone new or reconnecting with a previous advisor, it’s important to chat with them about what your course schedule will look like.

Sam Houston is always growing and looking for new ways to help students. Review the service below and see how we support scholars like you.

Your Return = Your Victory Lap

Returning to SHSU to complete your degree is more than a homecoming; it's your academic victory lap. We can't wait to welcome you back and see you succeed.

From aspiring filmmaker to three-time Sam Houston State University graduate, Nicholas Hudzinski’s Bearkat journey is a story of resilience, adaptability, and passion.

When life threw unexpected challenges his way, including stepping away from SHSU to help care for family, Nicholas found new paths forward. From the Disney College Program to studying abroad in Beijing, from learning Mandarin to leading Phi Chi Theta, he embraced every opportunity. His dedication to academics and campus involvement earned him the 2025 Outstanding Graduate Student Leader award and the honor of hosting The Sammy’s.

Today, Nicholas holds three SHSU degrees, including a Master of Science in Applied Economics, and works as an institutional research analyst on campus. His advice to students is simple: get involved, take chances, and walk through every open door.
