Nearly two decades after earning their degrees in radio and television from Sam Houston State University, alumni Dan Landson (’06) and Erin Barnard McCann (’06) have found rewarding careers with Southwest Airlines, where they share stories that lift both employees and passengers alike. Landson, a Public Relations Advisor, manages media relations and storytelling for major markets like Chicago, Denver, and Las Vegas—highlighting heartwarming moments that capture the airline’s culture and community impact.
McCann, now an Internal Communication Consultant, supports Southwest’s Technical Operations Team by developing strategy, executive messaging, and internal campaigns for thousands of employees. Drawing on skills she first honed at SHSU, she continues to champion authentic communication and professional growth. Together, the two Bearkats demonstrate how strong storytelling and compassionate communication can take you anywhere—even sky-high.
