Sam Houston State University dance lecturer Rasika Borse channels her lifelong passion for movement into both her teaching and her work as co-founder of two international dance companies: Bollywood Signature in Calgary, Alberta, and RB Dance in The Woodlands/Houston.

Bollywood Signature, founded in 2020 with partner Jennah Mohamed during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, was born from a desire to keep dancers connected while isolated. Four years later, her love for community building inspired her to create RB Dance, expanding her vision locally while continuing to teach her Canadian students online.

Both companies emphasize Bollywood dance fused with technical training in jazz and ballet. Bollywood Signature has already staged two evening-length productions, including “Journey Through India”, which explored the nation’s cultural diversity and regional dance forms.

Borse’s dance journey began at age five in Doha, Qatar, where she trained in Bharatanatyam, a classical Indian style that deepened her understanding of rhythm and structure. After moving to Canada, she studied ballet, jazz, tap, and contemporary, eventually earning degrees from the University of Calgary and Sam Houston State University. Now a Lecturer of Dance at SHSU, she continues to share her artistry through teaching and choreography.
