University Police Department
The mission of the Sam Houston State University Police Department is to effectively and efficiently protect lives and property, preserve the public peace, and provide needed community services with the highest level of professionalism and ethical standards. The Board of Regents of the Texas State University System created the UPD with authority delegated by the State Legislature to carry out this responsibility with the utmost dedication and highest professionalism.

In addition to providing resources on safety protocol, transparency information on police activity and call responses, managing administration for silent witnesses, concealed carry, and other departmental duties, the UPD also serves our community through offering security escorts, event security, vehicle assistance, and open forum awareness programs.
