Salary: $53,181 - $58,067

Responsibilities: Performs regular patrols to prevent crime, suppress disturbances, arrest offenders, and give aid and information to all citizens as circumstances require for Sam Houston State University. Enforces all University, State and local laws.

Qualifications: Cadet/Police Officer I: High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. Sixty semester hours of college credit preferred. Completed basic police training as required by Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), or currently completing TCOLE certification. Must successfully pass Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) 100leb, 200b, 700a, and 800b. Police Officer II: High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. Sixty semester hours of college credit preferred. Two years law enforcement experience. Must have received a positive six month performance evaluation in the Police Officer I position with SHSU Public Safety Services. Must hold Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) intermediate peace officer certification. Must successfully complete SHSU Police Department Field Training program within department parameters. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
