The Teaching & Learning Center at Sam Houston State University is pleased to announce EngageED: A Conference on Effective Teaching, which will be held February 16-17, 2027, on the SHSU Huntsville campus.
EngageED is a free conference for educators that brings together faculty, instructional staff, and educational leaders to share practical strategies, research-informed practices, and innovative approaches to effective teaching and student engagement.
We are sharing this early notice so that you can reserve the dates and begin thinking about potential session ideas.
The Call for Proposals is open until October 16th!We invite proposals from anyone in an instructor role or groups of presenters that: |

Invitations for proposals are open to all submitters for 50-minute sessions. Proposals are welcome from teams or presenters who perform work in an instructor capacity. All proposals are reviewed by the Teaching & Learning Center's Advisory Committee according to the following weighted criteria: generalizable learning objectives focused on teaching practice, engaging session plan, and scholarly basis. Our education tracks for 2027 are:

What's New for 2027
We listened to your feedback from the 2026 conference and offer some new changes this year.
We will offer 3 education tracks based on recommendations you wanted to see:
- Community Engagement
- Active & Student-Centered Teaching
- AI, Academic Integrity, & Assessments
- Sessions Match Class Times Sessions will align with class times. The Tuesday sessions will align with Tu/Th class times. The Wednesday sessions will align with M/W/F classes to make it easier for SHSU faculty to attend.
- Students We have options for your students This year we will offer a menu of options for students during the sessions so you won't need to disrupt your class and have more opportunity to attend the conference.
