Celebrating Excellence in Online Teaching: The SHSU Online Katalyst Awards at #DES26

February 3, 2026 By Jacob Spradlin
A female professor with dark hair and glasses, wearing a blue and white floral patterned blouse, sits at a desk in a classroom. She is looking toward someone off-camera with an attentive and pleasant expression. On the desk in front of her is a notepad and a folder. The background features student desks, black office chairs, and a computer monitor mounted on an adjustable arm.

SHSU Online is proud to announce the Katalyst Online Teaching Awards, recognizing faculty who exemplify innovation, engagement, and excellence in online education. These prestigious awards honor educators who go above and beyond to create transformative learning experiences for their students.

The 2026 Katalyst Award recipients will be celebrated during the Digital Education Summit (#DES26) on June 25–26, 2026 (SAVE THE DATE). This annual event brings together thought leaders, educators, and innovators to explore the future of digital learning—and this year, it will spotlight the outstanding contributions of our award winners.

But that’s not all: Katalyst Award nominees will also have the unique opportunity to share their expertise by presenting at #DES26. Their sessions will showcase best practices, creative strategies, and impactful approaches to online teaching, offering attendees actionable insights to elevate their own courses.

Visit the Katalyst Awards page for more information about the award categories, requirements, and the nomination process.  Nominations are due by March 27, 2026.
