Key Steps to Scheduling Test Appointments with SSD

  1. Discuss the arrangements for your test appointment with your instructor before each exam.
  2. Contact the SSD Office (Lee Drain Annex) on the Huntsville campus in person or by telephone at 936-294-3512 to schedule your test appointment at least three (3) working days before the date of the classroom exam, ten (10) working days in the case of final exams (see chart below and exception noted for mini-semester exams). Test appointments for courses held on the Huntsville campus will be scheduled for the SSD Office. Test appointments for courses held at The Woodlands Center (TWC)-SHSU will be scheduled for the TWC Testing Suite 303.  Test appointments for courses held at the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) will be scheduled for COM 110B & 110C. All test scheduling is coordinated through the SSD Office on the Huntsville campus. Students are strongly encouraged to schedule their test appointments for the entire semester early in the term, upon receiving their test dates from their instructors.

Note:  For scheduling of mini-semester exams, at least two (2) working days’ notice is required, five (5) working days in the case of final exams.

For a test appointment on: Contact the SSD office by:
Monday Wednesday, 5:00 pm, of the previous week
Tuesday Thursday, 5:00 pm, of the previous week
Wednesday Friday, 5:00 pm, of the previous week
Thursday Monday, 5:00 pm, of the same week
Friday Tuesday, 5:00 pm, of the same week
Finals Week Ten (10) working days prior to exam date

3. Inform the SSD staff of any special arrangements that you will need to take the exam, such as the assistance of a reader and/or scribe or the use of a computer and/or adaptive technology. Note: Such accommodation requires prior SSD approval.

4. Provide your instructor with advance notice of the date, time, and place of your test appointment according to the time lines indicated above and request that he/she deliver or forward a copy of the exam and a completed, SSD Testing Form (available at SSD website) to the SSD Office on the Huntsville campus at least one (1) working day before the appointment date, three (3) working days in the case of final exams.
