Sexual Assault – Sam Houston State University

This notice is sent in compliance with The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Statistics Act. 

On January 29, 2023, the University Police Department met with a female student regarding a sexual assault. The complainant met a male, via a social media app. After meeting in person and going out, the complainant reported they returned to her on-campus residence, but she does not remember anything after that point. Evidence suggests that a sexual assault occurred, however, the victim did not provide consent.

An investigator has been assigned to this case.

Several drugs may be added to beverages that may alter the consciousness or incapacitate a person without their knowledge. Drugs and alcohol can produce amnesia, leaving a victim unclear about what occurred afterward. These drugs can be used for criminal activity like sexual misconduct or sexual assault.

For more information regarding sexual misconduct policies and procedures or if you or someone you know has been subjected to sexual assault or sexual violence, you may report such misconduct with the Office of Equity & Title IX.

The University Police Department is a 24/7 full-service state law enforcement agency.

Criminal Mischief – Sam Houston State University

This notice is sent in compliance with The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Statistics Act. 

At approximately 1:27 a.m. today, Sam Houston State University Police responded the School of Music, 1751 Avenue I in reference to criminal mischief. Upon arrival, it was discovered that several windows were broken. During the investigation, it was found that other buildings on campus including The University Theatre Center, Lowman Student Center, Lee Drain Building, Farrington Building, and Academic Building III, sustained similar damage.

An investigator has been assigned to this case. If you have any information regarding this crime, please contact the University Police Department at 936-294-1800.
