Our newest program, the BAAS in Criminal Justice, is designed for law enforcement professionals. The Competency-Based Education (CBE) program awards up to 36 hours of applied credit for your professional training.
Sam Houston State University is the only Texas public university offering qualifying Texas peace officers the opportunity to apply the Texas Peace Officer Exemption to its criminal justice curriculum.

We would like to evaluate the best program for you based on where you are. Send your unofficial transcripts and contact information to cjpathways@shsu.edu, and someone will assess the best program for you. Once you are admitted to SHSU, you will meet with an advisor to register for courses.
Law Enforcement Officers entering a Field Training Officer program are eligible for a 12-hour internship.
Law Enforcement Officers who have completed a Field Training Officer program are eligible for a 12-hour professional career internship (in your current job).
