Students in this field study politics at local, state, and federal levels. The faculty provides award-winning instruction that develops critical thinking, communication, and research skills, preparing graduates for careers in law, business, government, advocacy, non-profit management, public relations, policymaking, and education.
Sam Houston State University's Department of Political Science offers Bachelor of Science (BS) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) programs, as well as minors in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, and Legal Studies. Students can also enhance their education through Model United Nations, internships, study abroad programs, and participation in the Center for Law, Engagement, and Politics (LEAP).
