Internships
Main Street Program
During my time at Main Street, I have learned a lot about Huntsville and how important the Main Street Program is to the growth of downtown. I have also learned how the Main Street Program works to preserve historic buildings, support small businesses, and create a welcoming environment for residents and visitors. These experiences have shown me how much planning and teamwork go into maintaining a successful downtown district.
Working with Main Street and the City of Huntsville has helped me grow both personally and professionally. Throughout my internship, I have improved my communication, organization, and time management skills by balancing different projects and working with local business owners, community members, and city staff. I have also had the opportunity to attend community events, such as the Main Street Music Series hosted by Main Street Huntsville in Rather Park, as well as the opportunity to create a Business Spotlight post on social media to highlight our downtown businesses. These experiences have shown me how important community involvement is and how local government can make a positive contribution. Through this internship, I have become even more passionate about a career in government because I enjoy serving my community and creating a positive impact.
