Music Specials, Robotics and Assessment Coordinator

Alicia Hernandez serves as the music instructor for all SHSU Charter School sites. She teaches Robotics at the Brighton Academy location and is the testing coordinator for the district. In 2009 she earned a Bachelor’s Degree of Music Education from the University of Florida with an emphasis in percussion performance. While there she performed around the nation with various music groups such as the UF Gator Marching Band and Drumline, Steel Band Ensemble, university bands and orchestras, musicals and drum and bugle corps. In 2015 Mrs. Hernandez served as a staff member with a Star of Texas Music Ambassadors group that toured and performed in numerous countries including the UK, France, Italy, Austria and Germany. She is currently enrolled in Master’s Degree courses through Sam Houston State University.

Mrs. Hernandez believes all children deserve access to a holistic education in a loving environment. The SHSU Charter School provides that at a variety of locations and communities. When she is not at school, Ms. Hernandez spends time with her husband and one-year-old son, Henry. She enjoys reading, fishing, cooking and studying for grad school.
